Raccoons are similar to the feline family. Unlike canines who eat their food fresh and hunt live animals. Felines have a mush strong stomach and can eat long-dead animals called carry-on. Raccoon roundworm is a rapidly multiplying roundworm that can infect any organ. It will cause first, worm-like lesions in every organ including the eyes. There are ways to remove the worms from the eyes but removing them from anywhere else is impossible. They will infest your skin, your organs and then your brain causing mental incapacitation and memory loss. The patient will then fall into a coma and die of brain death. This illness is controllable, but not curable.
The reason for this is that they eat long-dead meat. They rip at it with their claws infecting them with dangerous diseases and parasites like staph, flesh-eating disease and blood-borne bacteria and viruses. If the blood is not drained within 24 hours then the patient will likely pass. So if you have raccoons or other animals on your property that may eat carry-on, keep your children your pets and yourself far away from them. Then take action to limit their activity on your property. This is a simple process but may also be a little bit painful. You will have to remove every food source and water source on your property. That means your pool or hot tub may need to be removed or installed on the interior like you would an indoor sauna. This will keep it safe from wildlife trying to drink from it. You must get rid of all food on your property. That means not feeding pets outside. Giving children messy snacks and sending them to the backyard to eat and storing your garbage properly. That means locked and stored in a garage or shed until it is ready to be taken away. Do all of this and animals will still come. They will come, look for food and water, find non and leave. If that is what you want then take action and clear your property of accessible food, water and detritus. Otherize any animal, rodent, bird or reptile that can enter your property and even your home.
